GT2560 and Fan on MK8 heat sink

Post by drewd »

I picked up a GeeeTech Prusa i3 B Pro a couple months ago. It's been a great introduction and 3D printing learning experience! I haven't been able to get clarification on this one thing out after adding a separate fan with fan shroud. Does the fan mounted to the heat sink attached to the original extruder mechanism need to running 24/7, i.e. not plugged into a PWM fan on the GT2560 ? I've put my fan shroud fan on PWM and it kicks on after a few initial layers, but was curious if the fan on heat sink needs to run all the time or only when my slicer instructs it to turn on via the one available PWM fan on GT2560?

Thanks!

The fan on heat sink needs to run all the time, only the PWM fan is controllable.
