Have been trying for a month now to get this machine perform to the words published prior purchase. Up front I reckon it is a solid machine with great potential. Let down by lack of information to take it there.
Victory has been very helpful so thanks for your excellent help. But as said mostly on the older model A10(M) forum where is the real support such as
1. a user manual. and
2. nozzles other than 0.4 which Geeetech admits is the only size available for their 'M' models.
3. non adhesion problems already documented on this forum. After a month I guess it is the nozzle design doing the damage as it is very short and so will catch the extrusion. This is my biggest issue. Victory says he has sent me some new nozzles (tks Victory) that 'won't be easy to touch the print' Does that mean the npzzle has been changed? The nozzle for the A20M on the website sure looks longer than mine.
Couple of pics here. Both the case for a Nixie clock First in a good quality wood PLA which clogged after 14 hours and an example of adhesion probs.
hope this helps Dave.
New owner with some questions
Re: New owner with some questions
A quick update. After what? 3 weeks now not a lot of progress. But some.
1. The low extrusion problem has been solved. A check by measuring the actual amount extruded against the original of 340 in the LCD motion/steps/extruder showed it was only 78%. So I increased the rate to 436 steps/mm from the default 340. To do this connect printer to Repetier host via USB. In manual mode send M92 E436 to printer followed by an M500 to save. Then check the new value is permanent by viewing value under extruder motion on LCD. Not an expert but new value has a nice 'fishing line' look now and lays down a lot better. But still not good enough. See next.
2. The 'new' longer nozzles have arrived - part number 45-001-0448. Comes in a pack of 4 but if you look on site it looks like $6 each. The new nozzle is o/all 12.1 compared to the old 9.04mm. Thread length is the same of course.
But now we need to adjust Z height to compensate. It can be done easily in each model Gcode but we need it permanently set so that you can do homing and levelling. I have had mail into Geeetech via 3 routes and no one wants to know let alone help. On something so BASIC. They changed the nozzle - not me.
Tried M206 and M428 commands but without success. Without knowing the 'massaging' Geeetech has done to Marlin 1.1.8 for this printer it's pretty hard from here.
Maybe a user can help with this and of course Geeetech should have published a how to at the same time new nozzle was released. Don't hold your breath. We son't even have a User manual yet. DUH.

Re: New owner with some questions
Just to close off on this topic. Geeetech has been in touch to confirm all that is required using the new longer nozzle is to re-level the bed or adjust the Z endstop position. No firmware massaging is required. If you are still using the shorter original nozzle suggest you change - the difference is heaps.
On my machine not enough travel to just re-level so moved the endstop up 3.1mm. Make sure you still have enough travel for levelling. And all is now well with the A20M producing good results - at last.
