First Start Up Wiring Problems ??
First Start Up Wiring Problems ??
Just assembled the Aluminum Frame I3 Prusa Reprap printer with Sanguinololu Board ... having a few problems ... probably wiring related ...
Power up ... LCD display seems OK ...
When I select auto home ... the print head moves normally along the Y axis to the side and pauses ... the heated bed races to the rear along the X axis ... hits the end stop and slips ... until I shut it down ...
The 2nd power up ... it raced forward, until it hits the front end, then slips ...
I didn't notice any movement in the Z axis ... as it only ran for a few seconds until I turned the power off ...
Could it be related to the wiring, particularly the supplied 2 prong extension supplied for the 3 prong extensions for the X Y Z end stop relays ?
These are marked "-" "+" "S" on the Sanguinololu Board diagram below ...
The video looked as if they were attached on "-" & "S" on the video ... but I'm not sure now ???
Any suggestions on what area's I should be checking ???

UpDate : First Start Up Wiring Problems ??
I can manually move the X & Y axis in both directions ... but it does not recognize the Z axis
If I switch the Y & Z axis ... the Z axis works in both directions ... both X & Y axis work again after switching back to their original positions ...
The end stops do not seem to work ... at least the X & Y ... I didn't take a chance with the Z axis ...
I've traced each wire and location ...
I'm totally lost at the moment ...

Re: First Start Up Wiring Problems ??
I've downloaded the new Arduino 1.0.1 firmware ...
I've been trying to upload the new firmware ... unsuccessfully ... I keep getting an error message ... origionally that I had to update the drivers in Windows ...
I did that ...
Then started to get the new error message shown below ...
When I switch the "Y" & "Z" wires ... the "Z" axis works ok ... when shown as being "Y" ... no binding ... fairly smooth ... back and forth in both directions ...

Re: First Start Up Wiring Problems ??
maybe you can switch the z driver with x or y driver
maybe z drive is defective

Re: First Start Up Wiring Problems ??
I had already switched the Z driver and found them all working before I asked the question ...
I found that when selecting 'Prepare' ... then move axis ... then choose to move by 10mm or 1mm or 0.1mm from the choice in software ... that I could only viewed X & Y on the LCD screen when I chose 10mm ...
When I chose 1mm or 0.1mm ... all options became visible ... as move X or Y or Z or Extruder ... That question has been solved ... for me anyway ...
The last question I had asked was the best way to download the best current firmware for the " Full-Aluminum-Frame-I3-Prusa-Reprap-3D-Printer-Unassemble-MK8-Sanguinololu-Board " I just bought ... so I can continue to troubleshoot and see if I can get it to print ... for the 1st time ... as I was getting an error message when trying to install the just downloaded firmware ...

Re: First Start Up Wiring Problems ??
It stops at just before completion as shown below ...
This is for the "Full Aluminum Frame I3 Prusa Reprap 3D Printer"

How's it going?DavidP wrote:I've been attempting to upload the firmware a few times ... I get close ... but the Arduino seems to freeze before upload can complete ...

Keep uploading all the time and no more information?
Re: First Start Up Wiring Problems ??
It finally changed to 'Done Uploading' ... I thought for a moment I finally had it right ... BUT ...
A long list of 'timeout's down the page ... ending with 'timeout communicating with programmer' ... the ending with 'failed miserably to execute command 0x11' & 'failed to leave programming mode'
I've got a direct connection between the computer and printer ... with nothing else tied in ...
