Prusa i3 a pro. Ribbon cable melting

Post by peterelkjaer123 »

Hello,

I resently purchased a prusa i3 a pro. Now the 30 pin ribbon cable between the control box and printer has started showing signs of heat damages on the insulation.
As far as I can see the 30 pin cable is supplying power for the hotend and heatbed. Is that correct? If this is the case, is the cable then too poorly dimentioned for that kind of current draw?

Furthermore i can't get the heatbed above 70 degrees. Is there by any chance any heavier ribbon cables on the market that can stand that kind of power draw?

Kind regards and best wishes of a nice day

Hi,as to the hotbed issue,I wanna know about the resistanc of your hotbed, which is usually 1.2-1.5ohms,.If it's too high then the temperature won't pass 70 degrees, please check this link:http://www.geeetech.com/forum/viewtopic ... 13&t=17039.

Thank You so much for your fast reply.
I have already messured the resistance in the heatbed to 1.1 ohm but forgot to mention it in my first post. Sorry about that
I have taken a picture of the ribbon cable if the location of the burned wire can give you an idea of where exactly the problem is
