Extruder stepper motor not working - RAMBO v1.2a
Hey all,
I can't seem to get any stepper motor activity working on E0 or E1. I have confirmed that if I re-map the pins for X,Y or Z to E0 I can get stepper motor movement fine as either X, Y or Z axis - but not as an extruder. I have confirmed the Extruder stepper motor does move if connected to X, Y or Z axis. I have also tried re-mapping the pins (swap) E0 to E1 but the same issue applies - no extruder stepper motor activity.
My X, Y and Z axis all move fine, heat bed heats up, hot end heats up however I cannot for the life of my get any extruder stepper motor activity.
I'm using Repetier Firmware and have configured and downloaded the firmware package from http://www.repetier.com/firmware/v091/ . I have confirmed the min temp for extrusion is configured (#define MIN_EXTRUDER_TEMP 150) and is being reached - but still no extruder movement.
I have noticed the extruder stepper motor does not get stiff at all, I can still easily move the stepper with my fingers as if it was not even connected. I have confirmed the stepper motor works fine on other axis connectors (X, Y or Z).
I have measured the voltage between ground and the four E0 pins and I get 12v for each, when I issue a command to move the extruder the voltage stays the same.
If anyone out there has any ideas or have experienced this problem then I'd love to hear from you!
Thanks
Bryan

Hi,bmwilson1978!
I am sorry,i am unfamiliar with Repetier Firmware. The firmware i am using is Marlin. But i can send a firmware for you to test the stepper motor on your X,Y ,Z , E0 and E1 axis. With this firmware, your stepper motor will rotate clockwise and counterclockwise alternative.

Re: Extruder stepper motor not working - RAMBO v1.2a
Hi there,
I've downloaded that firmware file (Rambo.zip) and compiled and uploaded it to the RAMBO v1.2a however my extruder 0 stepper is not moving... Is there something else need to do? I have pressed the reset button on the RAMBO v1.2a and powered off/on the power supply unit, but nothing happens.
Thanks
Bryan

Hi,bmwilson1978!
I want to know if all the stepper motors(X,Y,Z,E1) but E0 are ok when you use the firmware named rambo.

Hi there,
Yes X,Y & Z work fine - I have tried reconfiguring the E0 related pins to E1 and moving the stepper connector to E1, same problem still exists. I have confirmed that moving the X related pins to E1 the X stepper moves fine. I have switch the E1 related pins to X however still no stepper movement.
Thanks
Bryan

Hi,bmwilson1978!
I want to know whether you connect any other external circuitry or not when you use the firmware named rambo.I suggest you connecting the board just as my picture shows. And do you mean that both the E0 and E1 steppers don't work in your last reply?
Best wishes to you!

Re: Extruder stepper motor not working - RAMBO v1.2a
Hi Star,
I managed to get my extruder working, in the end I wiped the eeprom data completely and re-upload the Rambo firmware again. I used EEPROMClear from http://arduino.cc/en/Tutorial/EEPROMClear to clear the eeprom and it fixed my problem. My extruder e0 and e1 is now working fine.
Thanks
Bryan

Hi,bmwilson1978!
Congratulations to you! Now you must be filled with excitement and a sense of accomplishment. I am also very interested in solving the problem by myself. Looking forward to our next cooperation to learn and progress!
Best wishes to you!

Re: Extruder stepper motor not working - RAMBO v1.2a
I have the same exact problem. My extruder quit E0 and E1 both inoperative. I test with X motor and no go. I test E motor on X axis circuit and it works fine. My machine is a Geeetech Prusa i3 pro Aluminum. I have made some good prints. But I heard a lot of chugging (even on the second layer)--extruder slippage prior to the failure.
Is this a good fix: EEPromclear? Is this the thing that I need to do. I don't want to wreck anything.
Is there firmware that Ishould update?
thanks in advance,
Dave

You said the printer was good working,so i don't think it's the firmware problem.
Have you checked all the parts on extruder motors, like the driver, the motor itself, the wiring...
Attach a video if possible.
