LCD 2004 display controller, text not displaying correctly

Post by designfactore »

Hi,

can you help me with the below issue?

I've attached 2 pictures, one of an existing, working LCD controller I already have, and one picture of what I get when I remove that one and install yours (LCD 2004 display controller)

I have an existing Rambo 3d printer with a very similar display that is working correctly. When I try connecting your display to that printer, the backlight, knob, and buttons work, but the text is not displaying correctly, I cannot read it, please compare the pictures. Help please? Is there some further documentation for your display that I could have? Thank you!

Hi, designfactore!

I think it is very possible that the pins order of your interface doesn't mached with the GEEETECH's LCD 2004.We often connect the RAMBO to the 2004 with the 3D Printer Smart Adapter for RAMBo Board. You can get it form this website:http://www.geeetech.com/3d-printer-smar ... p-772.html. And the picture i send shows the pins order of the GEEETECH's LCD 2004.

Hi,

The whole set of wiring was done by GeeeTech, as I also ordered your pre-assembled Rambo LCD adapter.

Luckily for me I had another working LCD controller to test against, and I found that the problem was one of QC (quality control) on GeeeTech's part.

See the picture attached below. Look carefully and you'll notice that there is a messy solder joint that is shorting across two pins on the back of GeeeTech's Rambo adapter:
messy solder joint is electrically joining two pins that shouldn't be

Once I cleanup up that mess, it is now working perfectly. I can't tell you how many hours I wasted messing with firmware when the issue was the hardware all along. Why would I suspect the wiring when all of it was pre-assembled?

Moving forward I worry about the quality of any other pre-assembled electronics from GeeeTech. The lower price isn't worth it if if I have to spend my time troubleshooting messy factory assembly work, my time is worth much more than I saved. I hope to be reassured by GeeeTech that this first experience with GeeeTech isn't common, as I would be using your products professionally. I would have bought some Rambo boards next but now I'm not so sure.

Anyone from GeeeTech like to help me feel better about your products?

Thanks,

R

Hi, designfactore!

I am sincerely sorry for the inconvenience we brought to you. It is our negligence to make you waste so much time. But this happened rarely in GEEETECH's products.Almost ninety-nine point nine percent of GEEETECH's products are ok. All of Geeetech products have undergone first rigorous testing and second sampling inspection by professional inspectors. However,as all of these are man-made operation and there are thousands of GEEETECH's products,so it is inevitable to come out one or two unqualified products. Hope you understand.

Thanks!
